How To Use Whitman's Virtual Helpdesk

While you can always contact the Whitman College Technology Services Helpdesk via email at helpdesk@whitman.edu, or via phone at 509.527.4976, you can also contact us online via our Virtual Helpdesk. This will place you into a live chat session with a Helpdesk representative between our hours of 8am – 12pm & 1pm – 4pm on weekdays.

To access this feature, go to the Whitman College: For Students page. In the red box in the lower right hand corner, there is a link to Virtual Help Desk. Click on the text “Live chat” to access it. You can also access this link directly by entering https://webapp.whitman.edu/virtualhelpdesk/ into your web browser.

This will open up another page. Click “Start Chatting” to begin your session.

You will be connected to the first available representative. The estimated time of your wait will be displayed on your screen, although it is unusual for this time to exceed five minutes. When a staff member is available, your chat session will appear as a pop-up window.

When your problem has been resolved, simply click the “End” button on the upper right hand corner of the chat window. You will be directed to a page that gives you the option of emailing a transcript of your chat session to yourself, so that you may refer to it later.
